When TLC (Tables, Ladders and Chairs with just one match that fell into this category) started I was wondering why one of the supposed highlights – Punk vs The Shield – were chosen to start the show, only followed by the Diva championship match between AJ Lee vs Natalya. Later I’ve read somewhere that Punk and AJ attended a wedding party after their respective matches so that’s why they couldn’t wait for TLC being over for them. Honestly I’m quite relieved that all the speculation about them are over now. Yes, the two of them are dating. And now go back to your own life (considered you have one).
Now for the important part: the scripted and not real wrestling. First of all, right before the match between Punk and The Shield actually started there was a huge head of Colt Cabana to be seen in the audience. The picture itself reminded me of this strange Japanese advertisement but at least Colt these days looks quite like this in every photograph that appears from him. Later Colt was so happy about it that he tweeted the very guy should e-mail him for some freebies to get sent to him. I think he will now get many, many … many e-mails.
From what happened at RAW last Monday I had huge expectations about this match and the outcome. I thought about several scenarios that could have happened, interferences, Shield split etc. But nothing happened. Yes, Dean Ambrose was accidentally hit by Seth Rollins and also accidentally heavily speared at the end by Roman Reigns only for Punk to win the match with taking advantage of the last. That could lead to an angry Shield promo today at RAW but who knows: maybe WWE just make the three of them to renew their coalition. But I’ve seen the name of Roman Reigns on his own into another WWE poll so the split seems inevitable. Hopefully not with just Roman Reigns being pushed. To be honest: he might be the biggest of the three Shield members but Ambrose isn’t far from him now. And besides stature I don’t think that Reigns can’t do good promos on his own. But this seems to be second-rated to the WWE these days.
From watching the match live yesterday I was slightly disappointed because nothing really surprising happened. I should have known better because PPV shows in the recent are quite a downfall. They are hyped tremendously but in the end there is no surprise not single exiting match but only details that we have several times before. For example the handcuffing of John Cena by Randy Orton in the last match for the unification championships even happened in a match of these two opponents before. Scenario, even several body movements were exactly the same. Just ridiculous! Given that the Punk vs Shield match did have some good moves and surprising moments. On second sight it was a pretty decent match but I prefer Punk vs Ambrose on his own all way long. The intensity between these two is simply terrific. Adding to this fact I just can’t stand Roman Reigns seemingly being more concerned about his hair than his actual match. He also acts slowly (Orton style) and wants to be admired by the audience (for his stature alone). Ambrose in comparison doesn’t care about the audience in this way. He’s there for the very match and his opponent and you can sense it in every second of his match time.
Now what else happened? AJ Lee maintained her title in an actual good but again too short female match. Big E Langston maintained his Intercontinental championship vs Damien Sandow in an equally very short match. Then we had to watch a 4-on-4 tag team elimination match and when the heels were all eliminated we also had to witness a 2-on-2 face tag team match until one face tag team was the winner. That one was far too long! But at least it was still better than the following happening between Brodus Clay (who cares?) and R-Truth with the so-called Funkadactyles (two meaningless women with not too many clothes on their bodies) on ringside. I didn’t really care. Did someone win? Then Kofi Kingston was finally allowed to have an actual fight versus The Miz which he also won. And after this Daniel Bryan lost to the Wyatt Family with a celebration by Bray Wyatt afterwards with DB that wasn’t suitable for children at all. I think that will go on until DB finally turns heel to join the Wyatt’s. And then we can do several meaningless 4-on-4 tag team matches, am I right, WWE?
Last match, obviously Cena vs Orton, started about 45 minutes before the official end of TLC but only lasted for thirty minutes. And everything between was acted only in super slow motion at times. The same action Cena vs Orton have shown at TLC within thirty minutes Punk and Ambrose would only need ten minutes for but do it for twenty minutes with just less time to breathe between the action. The only good thing about this match was the outcome: Randy Orton was allowed to get his hands on both titles but I’m afraid that he won’t keep it for too long. I wouldn’t be too sad if Punk or Ambrose would follow him but unfortunately it will be Cena in the end. I mean, so far CM Punk owns the title of longest reigning champion with 434 days. And since Cena is the face of WWE (for real) the company will do everything for Cena to overcome Punk in this department.
So, you see: I couldn’t care less about these titles. I just hope that Dean Ambrose finally need to maintain his US championship and not just carries it around every other day. And for now I just care about what will happen with The Shield after this:
