Yes, I’m challenging the task of writing down my thoughts on all 23 Slammy categories without finishing at ten thousand words. It will be an adventure and I invite you to follow this path with me.

In almost good old tradition already, this article works like this: the lists contain all nominees of their specific category. The striked nominee/s are the one’s I think are highly impossible to make it and only there to fill the list; the nominees written in BOLD letters are my chosen favourite/s while the ones in red colour will be the actual winners.

Match of the Year

  • Daniel Bryan vs. Batista vs. Randy Orton – WWE World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 30
  • THE SHIELD vs. EVOLUTION – Extreme Rules
  • John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt – Last Man Standing Match at Payback
  • Team Cena vs. Team Authority – 5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match at Survivor Series

There are just these four nominees and I’m sure that there were far more and better matches. But I won’t argue with WWE over their choices because I can’t change it anyway. And there are 22 more categories. And since I don’t want to write 10,000 words in here, I’ll come straight to the point in every category. I striked Cena vs. Wyatt because it was a stupid finish with Wyatt got buried when he was just hugely over with the audience. All other three matches can win easily: the Bryan match because Bryan was champion afterwards; The Shield fought Evolution all over the arena; Cena vs Authority finished The Authority. But the last match consequently brought back the anonymous GM which is even worse than before. So, my choice is the Shield match because all three guys were on the same level, it was different to all other matches in 2014. So, in the end it’s an easy choice for me.

WWE Superstar of the Year

  • Brock Lesnar
  • John Cena
  • Seth Rollins
  • Daniel Bryan
  • Roman Reigns
  • Bray Wyatt

I can remember that I also had this question last year: Why is Brock Lesnar even nominated? Easy strike. As well as Bray Wyatt. The man had some momentum with his family but as a single competitor he’s still just too ordinary. I didn’t strike John Cena because unfortunately there are a lot of little children who will vote for him. So, he’ll be in the race despite having just an ordinary year. He’s still hyped and pushed to heaven by WWE but his style, talking, childish jokes and almost everytime kicking out of opponent’s finishers are boring and not worthy a Slammy. Also Roman Reigns doesn’t have it to make the Superstar of the Year. He was pushed to heaven right from the beginning of the year with his record eliminations at the Royal Rumble. But as a singles competitor he didn’t do much to deserve this Slammy. He was protected in tag matches and made strong in the few singles matches he had. Then he got injured before Night Of Champions at the end of September and is out ever since, i.e. almost three months. So, we’ll certainly have a showdown between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose with the latter the only possible option for me. He’s over with the audience and has the advantage of being a babyface. I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE would still fake some polls and this one in favour of Cena. But if really only the fans are able to vote than there is no other than Dean Ambrose who deserves this Slammy the most.

If you needed any proof that this “live” voting was actually winners chosen by WWE before this very show, then you have it here. Reigns by all people won this Slammy is stupid and ridiculous. Good night.

WWE Diva of the Year

  • AJ Lee
  • Nikki Bella
  • Brie Bella

Most likely that many fans will vote for AJ Lee because of CM Punk. So, it’s very likely that she will win. It would be probably too early for Paige to actually win the Slammy this year but if she will then it will show you in which state the WWE Divas division is in. There is a lot of talent but hardly one of them is able to show it. So, this Slammy depends on the daily mood of the audience / WWE Universe, I’m afraid.

LOL Moment of the Year

  • Mr. T thanks his mother at the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame
  • Vickie Guerrero throws Stephanie McMahon in a pool of pudding on Raw
  • El Torito vs. Hornswoggle – WeeLC Match at Extreme Rules

One of the easiest choices to make: Damien Sandow / Mizdow, of course. Because this was and still is one of the funniest things going on in WWE. The other three choices aren’t even LOL moments: Vickie Guerrero was a YES! moment; making fun of that is almost a disgrace. Mr T wasn’t funny until the very end and El Torito vs Hornswoggle was a pretty good match, also almost a disgrace to make fun of it with putting it into this category.

Extreme Moment of the Year

  • Brock Lesnar hits 16 German suplexes at SummerSlam
  • Kane hits Daniel Bryan with Tombstones on floor, steel steps and table on Raw
  • Chris Jericho hits a cross-body on Bray Wyatt from the top of a steel cage on Raw

This one isn’t an easy choice. It’s once again a showdown between two options. Brock Lesnar was just boring at one point and the cross-body by Chris Jericho was impressive but not really sold as extreme. The beating of Daniel Bryan was indeed extreme. I can’t remember anymore if that caused his current problems / injuries, so that will possibly win. But for me it just took too long. The real extreme moment of the year though is Rollins Curb Stomping Dean Ambrose. It was a great moment to give him time off, so he could do his movie, and it was just the right amount of extreme and timing.

Surprise Return of the Year

  • Hulk Hogan returns as the guest host of WrestleMania 30 on Raw
  • Batista returns on Raw
  • The Rock returns to interrupt Rusev and Lana on Raw

With the internet all over the place, there is hardly anything going on in WWE anymore that’s really surprising. But, Hulk Hogan was even announced on WWE weeks before it happened and Hogan coming back isn’t that surprising at all. Batista was surprising, at least for the WWE itself, i.e. that he didn’t work as a babyface at this time. Yes, Dwaaayne coming back was surprising at the time but it wasn’t a real return. It just looked like a celebrity show-up, so wrong category once again. Ultimate Warrior though was a surprise and it was even his last appearance in public since he died just a few days after RAW. Deserved Slammy for him.

“This is Awesome” Moment of the Year

  • Yes! Movement occupies Raw
  • Stephanie McMahon gets arrested and taken away on Raw
  • Hulk Hogan, The Rock and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin meet at WrestleMania 30

Two easy choices striked once again because both of them weren’t awesome at all. Leaves us with two options and since the Sting moment is still fresh and it actually killed The Authority while Occupy RAW was just a lame try, it’s once again pretty easy.

The OMG Shocking Moment of the Year

  • Seth Rollins turns on The Shield on Raw
  • Bray Wyatt’s choir surrounds John Cena inside Steel Cage on Raw
  • Nikki Bella turns on Brie Bella at SummerSlam

Two strikes but again two options left that can both win. The Shield break-up was long in the making but when it actually happened, it was indeed shocking. But, breaking the streak was something literally no-one expected. So, this has to be the most shocking moment of the year. Without a doubt.

The following categories are for the 2014 exclusive Slammy nominees. Winners will be revealed on Monday night in the WWE Network Raw Pre-Show at 7:30 p.m. ET (half an hour before RAW starts):

“Tell Me You Didn’t Just Say That” Insult of the Year

  • Paul Heyman raps on John Cena on Raw
  • Chris Jericho insults The Authority after Stephanie’s arrest on Monday Night Raw – July 28, 2014
  • The Rock insults Rusev and Lana on Raw

The both striked options weren’t real insults but mainly the truth. Dwaaayne said much inappropriate to Rusev and Lana but I can’t think of a bigger insult than telling my twin that I wished he / she died in the womb. Easy choice. But I wouldn’t be proud of that Slammy.

WWE Tag Team of the Year

  • Gold & Stardust
  • The Usos
  • Los Matadores with El Torito
  • Slater Gator with Mini Gator

Yes, Gold & Stardust and The Usos have chances to win but let’s get serious: only Miz & Mizdow really deserve it because they are always entertaining while the others are either always the same or just ridiculous. Easy.

Breakout Star of the Year

  • Rusev with Lana
  • Roman Reigns
  • Paige
  • Seth Rollins

Rusev with Lana were impressive and fun; Paige was impressive first but now has to appear on Total Divas – both of them won’t hold a glimmer of a chance against the three ex-Shield guys. And since I think that Dean Ambrose will be Superstar of the Year, he’ll most certainly also be the Breakout Star – against all odds once again because I’ve read it so often – even on this blog here in some commentaries to my posts – that Dean Ambrose will find himself in mid-card pretty soon. But where is he now? Hey, alright, today, on the 07 December, when I’m writing this, it’s his birthday, so I have an extra soft spot on him today. But you know what? He deserves this Slammy as well. Pretty much. And William Regal deserves a Slammy for naming his move “Dirty Deeds”.

Hashtag of the Year

  • #OccupyRAW
  • #RKOOuttaNowhere
  • #MoscowMooseKnuckle
  • #EatSleepSuplexRepeat
  • #NineNinetyNine

Seriously I have no idea. Hopefully not the shameless self-promotion. And I can’t remember this Moscow related hashtag. But these Orton RKO’s were a lot of fun, so I think that this will win. But I don’t really care.

Fan Participation Award

  • “You Sold Out” – Seth Rollins
  • “Nine Ninety-Nine” – WWE Network
  • “We The People” – Jack Swagger
  • “I’M AFRAID I’VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS” – Bad News Barrett
  • “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” – Bray Wyatt

Once again: hopefully not the shameless self-promotion. And “We The People” wasn’t very strong this year. All three other option can easily win. I’m going with Wade Barrett because it’s my personal choice and the fans’ reaction is always deafening, doesn’t matter if Wade Barrett was away for a while or if he does it very often. Doesn’t get boring.

Double-Cross of the Year

  • The Authority turns on Randy Orton on Raw
  • Nikki Bella betrays her twin sister Brie Bella at SummerSlam
  • Mark Henry turns on his friend, Big Show, on Raw

One of the easiest choices this time. If this gets another winner, I’ll be heavily surprised. Would be my personal shocking moment of the year!

Animal of the Year

  • Gator (Hornswoggle)
  • Torito
  • Grumpy Cat

Also an easy choice for me. Maybe El Torito has got some tiny chances but The Bunny has to win.

Best Actor

  • The Miz
  • Batista
  • The Rock

And it’s another Slammy for Damien Sandow for sure. Maybe Batista has some tiny chances because of his recent success in the business but when it comes to WWE and his actual gimmick, than Damien Sandow is the man.

NXT Superstar of the Year

  • Adrian Neville
  • Tyler Breeze
  • The Ascension

First of all: why there isn’t a similar category for the women of NXT is beyond me. But as for the men I expect a head-to-head race between Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn. But in the end, I think Sami Zayn will get the award. Hard call though.

Anti-Gravity Moment of the Year

  • Seth Rollins dives off the balcony at WWE Payback
  • Adrian Neville’s Red Arrow
  • Dean Ambrose dives onto lumberjacks at SummerSlam

Not an easy choice here but Kofi Kingston would deserve it the most. And I’ve striked Dean Ambrose because the whole match was awesome and this jump was great but not as much as all other options in this category.

Faction of the Year

  • The Authority
  • The Wyatt Family
  • The Rosebuds

Pretty easy once again since there are still a lot of (female) fans who aren’t over the Shield break-up. Two options are rubbish, and The Wyatts just weren’t as impressive as The Shield. And I already looking forward to a little brawl between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins while accepting their Slammy.

Tweet It! Best Twitter Handle (aka Social Champion)

  • @JohnCena (John Cena)
  • @ZackRyder (Zack Ryder)
  • @Ryback22 (Ryback)
  • @nicoleandbri (Nikki & Brie Bella)
  • @RealPaigeWWE (Paige)

I couldn’t care less and I’ve got no idea because I follow none of them and can’t tell anything about their usage of Twitter. I just didn’t get why the Bellas still only had one handle during their feud. And why Ryback is even nominated is beyond me. So, since there are a lot of Dolph Ziggler fans out there, I guess he will make it.

Raw Guest Star of the Year

  • Larry the Cable Guy
  • Jerry Springer
  • Kevin Hart
  • Betty White

The three striked options were basically rubbish and not at all entertaining. Betty White was a sweet old lady but her segments with the New Age Outlaws were ridiculous. Indeed entertaining was Hugh Jackman but not really because of Hugh Jackman but because of Damien Sandow a.k.a. Magneto. It was hilarious and basically Damien Sandow deserves this very Slammy for himself.

Rivalry of the Year

  • The Shield vs. Evolution
  • Daniel Bryan vs. The Authority
  • Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
  • Rusev vs. The USA

There is only one option here for me. No other than Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins deserve this Slammy for all their effort and entertaining matches they put into this feud. Bryan vs. Authority was just a lame clone of Punk vs. Authority; Lesnar vs. Cena was basically Heyman vs. Cena; and Shield vs. Evolution was okay when it came to the matches. But Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins just had everything. Maybe we’ll get another little brawl backstage or wherever the acceptance ceremony will take place for that.

Best Couple of the Year

  • Triple H & Stephanie McMahon
  • Jimmy Uso & Naomi
  • Tyson Kidd & Natalya

Really, I couldn’t care less.
