This is my way of saying goodbye to the WWE. It’s quite fitting, I guess, for stuck in between a horrible finish to the Royal Rumble yesterday and a cancelled RAW today. I will still watch the Dean Ambrose segments but I won’t write about the WWE shows anymore. I may leave a few tweets about that topic, so if you like then follow me on Twitter. And now – for the last time – my take on the Royal Rumble.

What I don’t like about Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble
The usual talk from the Roman Reigns fans basically is this: “He deserved it because he worked hard. Last year you wanted him to win but this year you boo him for winning the Rumble. You’re never satisfied.” As it’s usually the case for any fanbase that’s just one side of the coin. So, last year Roman Reigns was just cheered for the win when he was one on one with Batista as the two remaining competitors inside the ring. In the end Batista won and fans complained because the man only came back to WWE a few weeks before and was there just for the Wrestlemania season. Reigns though was still part of The Shield where he carried a much more fitting gimmick: the silent assassin who gets the hot tag to win the matches.

What changed about Roman Reigns from last year is, that he’s thrown down all of our throats. He wins every match but I can hardly recognize any storytelling. It’s just him, the powerful guy, who even started to knock down two guys at once with the Superman Punch recently. The Shield needed three guys to hit a powerbomb on one guy; Roman Reigns will soon only need one Superman Punch to knock out three guys. At the end of his matches when he roars like some deer during the rut, he’ll do his finishing move set without a iota of change to win despite of any punishment that he may have faced during the match. Sometimes he appears like almost dead but from one second to the next he’ll be on 100 percent again like nothing happened. I’m not able to connect with him or even feel with or for him, because he doesn’t make it believable. And you almost already know – like it’s the case with John Cena – that in the end Roman Reigns always wins. This is a boring gimmick but for some reason WWE just doesn’t realize. The more people boo him, the more WWE throws him down our throats when quite the opposite would probably help his cause.

And they made it even worse after Reigns had won the Rumble with beating him down by Big Show and Kane. Perhaps that was done to make the people in Philadelphia finally feel for him. But then The Rock, Reigns’ cousin, came out to save Reigns and then stood tall with him in the ring to celebrate. All this was done to minimize the boos at Reigns at all costs. Instead it created some heavily trending hashtag on Twitter called #CancelWWENetwork. Well, I never got the Network, so I couldn’t cancel it but I guess many people really did. Not just because Daniel Bryan didn’t win; not just because Dean Ambrose didn’t win; not just because Dolph Ziggler didn’t win; not even because Roman Reigns won. Most people quit because we all knew that Reigns will win since last October / November and WWE desperately tried ever since to make us believe Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler were actually “considered” when they were not. Right now I even think that Daniel Bryan was made to come back too early from his injury to make fans believe that there is another one who could win. Roman Reigns as the actual winner was never really mentioned during the last days before the Royal Rumble. So, WWE again thought that the fans are dumb, have no memory and will take the Reigns win as an actual surprise when it just felt like a hard hit back to reality.

What I don’t like about Dean Ambrose not winning the Royal Rumble
So, where shall I start? First of all I wasn’t rooting full-heartedly for Dean Ambrose because deep down I knew he wouldn’t win. As of late he was only used for making guys look strong, so he definitely wasn’t to get a surprise push. His time will come the long and hard way, like he walked on his entire career. But when he’s finally on top, he’ll stay there. So, I was going for the most logical choice in my opinion. I should have known that I’ll be wrong with that predictions because logic never is the WWE’s strong suit. In the end, Daniel Bryan wasn’t thrown back inside the ring to get him what he missed last year but to make the fans hope that WWE at least does something right.

So, when Daniel Bryan was eliminated even before Roman Reigns entered the ring, I didn’t really whine about it. I just realized that Daniel Bryan was just made into cannon fodder. And then we get to the use of Dean Ambrose. He got around thirteen minutes inside of the ring with a late entry as entrant number 25. He just eliminated one guy in Titus O’Neil but only with the help of Roman Reigns. And the finish was even more ridiculous. It wasn’t just that Kane and Big Show threw Dean Ambrose over the top rope, they also just picked him up with Dean Ambrose didn’t even fight against to get eliminated. And then: what’s it with Kane and Big Show making the final four at all? With the logic of WWE it’s probably seen as an honour to get eliminated by two older and big guys but it’s not seen this way by most of the fans.

I’m still not sure if this “brother” gesture by Dean Ambrose with Roman Reigns was scripted or done just because of the initiative of Dean Ambrose. But it doesn’t matter if it was WWE or Dean Ambrose who felt that Roman Reigns needed some gesture like this to show the fans that Dean Ambrose likes Roman Reigns, so the fans shall like him, too. It just doesn’t help that Roman Reigns always says in promos that he’s got no friends, that he stands all alone against everyone when it’s just not the case when Dean Ambrose is next to him. WWE separated Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns after the Shield break-up with reason. They probably really didn’t think of Dean Ambrose’s popularity could grow that huge. Now they maybe stick Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns together from time to time, so Reigns will gain some of Ambrose’s momentum. It just doesn’t help Reigns when he always has to point out that he’s got no friends. People aren’t that dumb not to remember such things.

What I hope for
I’m looking forward to the Shield DVD “Destruction of The Shield” release on 02 March 2015. And Dean Ambrose’s movie “Lockdown” to be released around May / June 2015. Otherwise I just hope that Dean Ambrose’s character isn’t made even more ridiculous and stupidly booked but at least put into a good feud. My dream feud for him at the moment would be against Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship with Dean Ambrose finally get some gold around his waist again. I somehow still hope for some Dean Ambrose / William Regal cooperation in the future. Until then I’ll have their feud back in FCW and the forthcoming segments of it on the Shield DVD.

That’s it. Thanks for reading and leaving comments from time to time. Maybe I’ll re-start writing about WWE but I can’t see that happen before SummerSlam at least. Hope you all had a bit of fun. Because that’s what wrestling somehow is supposed to be.
